Nova Scotia Area Scenery - Halifax Bi-centennial (1749-1949)
Port-Royal had been the capital of Acadia aka Nova Scotia during periods of control by both the French and the English. After Halifax became a municipality, it was soon the capital of Nova Scotia also. On the trade route between the new England states and Europe, there was a large protected harbour and elevated options for defence. Halifax celebrated its bi-centennial in 1949.
These photographs were purchased in a bookstore in Halifax on one of the vacation trips or on a working trip made in the early 2000's. Hardly a complete set, there are still some things in these pictures that are interesting to see.
